“Scapula SP” carbon fork: Test report by Dirk Zedler on the TOUR-magazine testing equipment

A “Scapula SP” fork we provided to the road bike specialists of TOUR-magazine, Europe’s largest cycling publication, for a long-term test was evaluated by their engineer Dirk Zedler before being put on a bike. Read on for the results found by “Ingenieurbüro Zedler” (Zedler’s technical consulting firm):

fork weight (240 mm steerer length): 264 g
standardized fork weight
(steerer cut to 225 mm, includes preload mechanism for headset adjustment and top cap):
277 g
braking stiffness: 89 N/mm
jumping stiffness: 88 N/mm
lateral stiffness: 48 N/mm

From the testing protocol:

  1. The measurements were performed according to TOUR-protocol (published in edition 12/2003) on machines identical to those used by TOUR-magazine.
  2. All measurements refer to steerer tubes measuring 225 mm. This is the length necessary for 57 cm frames.
